Satterlee Stephens successfully obtained a Temporary Restraining Order on behalf of its client, Daily News Charities (“Daily News”), prohibiting USA Boxing, Metropolitan Association (“Metro”) from carrying out a tournament using the trademark GOLDEN GLOVES.  The parties had organized and run the tournament together for years, but this year Metro attempted to push Daily News out and run the tournament on its own.  The United States District Court for the Southern District of New York found that Daily News is likely to succeed on the merits of its claims that the GOLDEN GLOVES mark belongs to Daily News in the New York City Metropolitan area and that Metro’s use of that trademark is infringing and will irreparably harm Daily News.
