Satterlee Stephens attorney, Michael Greenberg, recently gave a lecture titled Legal and Financial Planning for the Newly Diagnosed Dementia Patient on behalf of the New York City Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association. Mr. Greenberg, Chair of the Association’s Legal Committee, discussed how newly diagnosed dementia patients can protect their assets from medical costs and how they can maintain control of medical and financial decisions.  Some additional topics covered by Mr. Greenberg included planning for long-term care, applying for Medicaid, setting up a trust, the costs of receiving care at home, nursing-home expenses, and the role of an attorney in the process.  The Legal Committee of the Alzheimer's Association helps patients and their families address a variety of legal and financial issues associated with an Alzheimer’s diagnosis.
